How to view and register for classes

  • Log into your Hokie SPA account, using your VT PID and password
  • Select Hokie SPA from the menu
  • Select "Course Request” from the menu
  • Choose “Fall 2017” in drop-down
  • Choose "Engineering Education" and click "Search"
  • For course information, click on the course "Title" link.
  • To add a class, click “Add.” The course(s) will appear on your "Schedule" and "Summary"
  • To complete your registration click “submit”

Parking permits are required to park on campus.  If you do not have a permit and you park on campus, I can almost guarantee that you will have a ticket on your windshield within 30 minutes.  It's very important that you take care of this soon after your arrival into Blacksburg, if you plan to park on campus.  Please visit http://parking.vt.edu/Permits.aspx for more information on how to obtain your pass.  There is a free parking garage on Prices Fork Road, beside of Hardee's, however you would need to factor in the walk every day, if you choose to do that.  Please be advised that the Blacksburg Transit is free to all VT students.

Our department orientation will be held the week prior to the first day of class.  You will receive an email notification on the date, time and location.  Please bring your laptop with wifi already setup.  Coffee, OJ, Pastries and Bagels will be served.

Graduate School Orientation - This is typically held on the Friday prior to the start of classes.  This is optional, but highly recommended.  If you wish to attend, please register.

 

For those on a GTA, you will be required to attend the GTA workshop.  If you have not already received communication on this, please email our graduate coordiantor, Linda Hazelwood.  This information is for the student's who will be teaching ENGE 1215 or ENGE 1216 this fall.

Please make sure that if you attended your previous school in the spring of 2017, that you have submitted your final official transcript to the Virginia Tech Graduate School.  Failure to do so, will result with a hold on your account.

Virginia Tech offers on-campus housing for graduate and professional students. This housing option reflects both the diversity and tradition that are the hallmarks of graduate studies at the university. The facilities are suited to provide privacy, convenience, and an atmosphere conducive to learning.

Graduate Residence Halls

Graduate housing is located in the Graduate Life Center at Donaldson Brown and Main Campbell Hall.

Eligibility

Single- and double-occupancy rooms in the traditional and suite-style are offered to applicants on a first-come, first-served basis. To be eligible, a student must be admitted by the Virginia Tech Graduate School and enrolled full-time. The facilities are designed to accommodate individual men and women but not married couples. Eligible students are offered housing concurrent with the start of an academic year and as space occasionally becomes available throughout the year.

Students interested in fall semester graduate housing can submit their information to the online graduate housing waiting list as early as the first day of class of the preceding spring semester.

Graduate Wait List Sign-Up

For graduate housing, contract offers are made in order of entry date, and determined based on the available housing. Once you have signed up, your student status will be checked and you will receive a receipt e-mail from our office acknowledging your entry onto the waiting list. Students must be enrolled at the University before a contract will be offered.  

To add your name to the Wait List, please go to the StarRez Portal, log in with your PID/password and 2-factor authentication, then select Housing and Dining Contracts and then Housing Application Process as the active term.  Follow on-screen instructions.

Graduate Room & Board Rates

Room and board rates are posted each spring for the upcoming academic year after approval by the Board of Visitors. Please visit our rates page for details on housing in the Graduate Life Center at Donaldson Brown and Main Campbell Hall.

Dining Options

The dining facilities are conveniently located near the residence halls. All on-campus residents are required to purchase either a major dining plan.

A variety of off-campus apartment complexes offer special housing for graduate students and their families.
