Research Interests:

Alexis is responsible for collaborating with Virginia Tech College of Engineering students to help them learn and cultivate into dynamic Hokie engineers. As an academic and career advisor, Alexis guides and supports students on their paths to be successful engineers through encouraging students to set realistic action plans to achieve academic goals and objectives, determining and respecting students strengths and interests, brainstorming parallels between educational and career goals, and connecting students with the most accurate resources within the campus community. In addition to advising students on the decision-making process of selecting a major and/or career path within the College of Engineering, Alexis is an advisor who advocates for getting involved and creating support networks while being a Hokie either through campus organizations, volunteering, or studying abroad, which includes making appropriate referrals to enable students to achieve these goals.

Specifically, Alexis focuses on advising first-year general engineering students to develop sound academic and career goals as they transition to the new academic and social communities within Virginia Tech. Alexis strives to strengthen the importance, dignity, potential, and unique nature of each individual within the Virginia Tech academic setting.
