Maia joined the Engineering Education department as an Academic and Career Advisor in 2016. She is excited about working with first-year General Engineering students and collaborating with colleagues within the department and throughout the Virginia Tech community. 

Prior, she spent four years working as a Nationally Certified School Psychologist outside of Washington, D.C. Maia also previously taught family/professional collaboration courses through Towson University, served as an Executive Assistant to the Dean at the Georgetown Public Policy Institute, and conducted research at Towson University and The Ohio State University. 

Maia earned a Masters of Arts in Psychology and Certificate of Advanced Studies in School Psychology from Towson University in 2012. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The Ohio State University and also completed a Business minor in 2008.
