We are delighted to present our Fall 2020 Ph.D. cohort! From a record number of applicants, we have an incoming cohort of 14 students with diverse experiences and backgrounds. We are looking forward to engaging with these students as they begin their journeys with us in the fall semester!

Stephen Moyer - Stephen hails from Asheville, North Carlona, has a bachelor's degree in mechatronics engineering from University of North Carolina Asheville and North Carolina State University, and is joining the program after working for Boeing in South Carolina. 

Karen Martinez Soto - Karen hails from Guatemala City, Guatemala, earned a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Oklahoma, and is currently pursuing a master's degree in industrial and systems engineering at Virginia Tech.

Jeremy Brown - Jeremy hails from Hendersonville, North Carolina, has degrees in engineering (mechatronics concentration, B. Sc.; electrical and computer engineering concentration, M. Eng.) from North Carolina State University, and is a Lecturer in the Joint NC State University/UNC Asheville Engineering Program. 

Maya Menon - Maya hails from Phoenix, Arizona, earned a bachelor's degree in computer science and engineering from Arizona State University, and pursued a master's degree in robotics and automation engineering at Amrita University in Coimbatore, India.

Hannah Glisson - Hannah hails from Bahama, North Carolina, is an alum of the Virginia Tech industrial and systems engineering program, and recently earned a master's degree in higher education and student affairs from Baylor University.

Amy Richardson - Amy Richardson hails from Alexandria, Virginia, has bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering from the University of Cincinnati, and is an Assistant Professor of Engineering at Northern Virginia Community College.

Abe Alsharif - Abe hails from Medina, Saudi Arabia, and has a master's degree in industrial and systems engineering from Youngstown State University.

Qualla Ketchum - Qualla hails from Warner, Oklahoma, and has bachelor's and master's degrees in biosystems engineering from Oklahoma State University.

Matthew Morris - Matthew hails from Flagstaff, Arizona, and recently earned a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

Taylor Johnson - Taylor hails from Pflugerville, Texas, and recently earned a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.

Yasir Gamieldien - Yasir hails from Cape Town, South Africa, has a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering and a post-graduate certificate in education from the University of Cape Town, and taught at South African College High School

Yi Cao - Yi hails from Shenzhen, China, has a bachelor's degree in the standardization of engineering from China Jiliang University, and a master's degree in higher education.

Sidd Sunil Kumar - Sidd hails from Auckland, New Zealand, earned a bachelor's degree in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Auckland, and is currently pursuing a master's degree in civil and environmental engineering at Virginia Tech.

Andrea Schuman - Andrea hails from Hoffman Estates, Illinois, has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Oklahoma, and joins our program after working in Simergent.
